Frequently Asked Questions

What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a relatively new modality that uses Muscle Monitoring (previously known as Muscle Testing) to interact with your innate awareness (your subconscious).

Your body is a storehouse of every emotion, trauma, unresolved hurt or limiting belief that you have ever been exposed to. Many of these experiences are buried deep within your subconscious, but even though they may be forgotten, they are not gone, and can impact your day to day life on many levels.

Kinesiology is able to identify these unresolved aspects of your being and clear the stresses surrounding each, enabling your body to return to a state of homeostasis.

Once you become consciously aware of what has been holding you back, and the ways that it has been affecting your life, you have the knowledge and power to make the changes needed to open up the path ahead of you, allowing you to become the person you always knew you could be.

What can I expect to happen at a Kinesiology session?

At your initial Kinesiology consultation, we will ask you to provide a basic rundown of your history; including medical and health background, family history of any chronic diseases and any current physical, emotional or cognitive issues you may be concerned about.

From this information we make a list of your current issues, and then get you to lie down on the massage table so we can do your Kinesiology pre-checks and Willingness statements.

Your body is then ready for us to use Muscle Monitoring to ask your subconscious (or innate awareness) what the priority issue is – which may not be the one you thought. We then ask the body what support it needs to address the issue at it’s root cause – or deepest level, and then provide that support in the form of a Kinesiology Balance.

At the end of the Balance we check to ensure that the presenting issue no longer shows stress, which means that the issue no longer impacts your life in the same way, as the underlying stress has been identified and addressed.

This empowers you to begin making the changes you need to live your life authentically, for yourself, and for your highest potential.

No two Kinesiology sessions are the same. In fact, ten people could present with exactly the same issue, but each persons body will reveal different underlying causes which would require a different approach, tailored specifically for that person and their current needs.

So, Kinesiology is definitely NOT a one-size-fits-all modality.

What can I expect to happen in a Reiki session?

Reiki is a very gentle modality, and can be done using a hands-on or hands- off approach, depending on the client’s preference.

The Reiki Practitioner allows themselves to be a conduit to receiving Higher energy, which is passed through the practitioner, usually via their hands, to the client.

Some clients will feel this energy exchange, either by a light tingling, or by feeling heat or coolness where the practitioner is touching them.

Reiki does not hurt, nor can you receive too much. The Reiki energy goes where it is needed, and your body will only ever take in as much as it needs at the time.

Clients reports vary from feeling relaxed and extremely calm (some people fall asleep during a Reiki session). Other people may see, feel or hear different things, and others may not feel anything at all. This does not mean that the Reiki session has not worked, it just means that the changes are subtle and may not be noticed for several hours, days or even weeks.

Changes to look out for range from physical ailments or stress levels reducing in severity to an increase in clarity and awareness. You may be guided to go somewhere or pick up a random book, which will have a message for you.

Do not feel discouraged if none of this happens. Many of us are so bogged down with layers of burdens and constant stress, that it may take a few sessions for you to notice any changes.

And the results will be different for each individual.

What can I expect to happen at a Nutrition Consultation?

At your Nutrition Consultation you will receive a questionnaire to fill out, which will ask questions about your current dietary habits, and any health issues or concerns you may have.

We will go through your questionnaire, and I will ask additional questions to assist me best in providing you with the information you need.

  • We will look at the foods you eat and why.
  • Changes you can make to your food choices and eating habits that will benefit you most.
  • The effects at a cellular level on certain foods and supplements.
  • How foods can contribute to chronic health issues and what we can do to assist you in making any necessary changes.

Ask as many questions as you need to understand what I have explained and why. Remember, there are no silly questions. 🙂

At the end of the session I will ensure that the information I have provided you with makes sense, and that you understand it all.

I may give you a list of suggestions or advise you on a supplement, or you can take notes throughout.

It is always good to re-book in for a follow up session, usually around four weeks time. This allows any advice, dietary changes or supplementation to take effect.

And, I am always available via email or phone to answer any follow up questions you may have.

Do I need to prepare for the session in any way?

No. There is no physical preparation required for any of the sessions we offer.

For the Kinesiology and Reiki sessions – wear comfortable clothing, as you may be lying on a massage table for up to 90 minutes. We do provide blankets and leg or head pillows to ensure your utmost comfort. You can also bring a water bottle along to maintain adequate hydration.

There are no preparation requirements for a Nutrition Consultation – although if you are determining whether certain supplements or foods are beneficial to you or not, you can bring them along to be tested.

What do I need to bring?

For Kinesiology and Reiki sessions it is advised to bring a drink bottle along, as adequate hydration is important – particularly for Kinesiology sessions.

How often do I need to have Kinesiology sessions before I notice any results?

The number of sessions required and the spacing between each session varies with each individual, and is determined in several ways.

It is always recommended to leave at least two weeks minimum between each Kinesiology session, to allow the benefits of the previous session to take affect and be apparent. (The only time sessions may need to be spaced closer would be when we are working with chronic illnesses and ailments, and even that would be subject to each individuals requirements).

So. How do we determine the frequency of sessions? By asking your body. At the end of each Kinesiology session, we muscle test to ask your body how much integration time it requires for the session just received for optimal benefit, and this gives us a guideline as to when to suggest your next session time.

We can also muscle monitor your body to ask it when it would like the next appointment time to be – as after all, your body knows you best.

The other reason we suggest maximal integration time between sessions is so you do not become reliant on the Kinesiology to ‘fix’ everything for you.

The basis of Kinesiology is to clear the stresses surrounding your issues. This enables your body to return to homeostasis and optimal function, your mind to become clearer, and for YOU to take the steps forward to initiate the changes that YOU want to see.

Kinesiology paves the way, but we cannot make you walk the path. That empowerment comes from within.

What can I expect after a Kinesiology session?

Everyone is different, and just as no one balance will be the same, the way people feel after the blance can vary.

Some common feelings are:

  • light-headedness
  • feeling a bit ‘spacey’
  • Feeling emotional

You may feel calm and relaxed, experience a feeling of clarity or higher awareness, or may notice some unpleasant emotions and physical sensations arising. Particularly a day or two after your session.

Some people liken a kinesiology session to a detox and can develop flu like symptoms, mild nausea or mild headaches. Please do not be alarmed by any of this.

It is perfectly natural and in fact beneficial for your body to have some sort of reaction. It clarifies that something has shifted within you.

You have to remember that some of the emotions and beliefs that we have unearthed have been buried in your body for most of your life and your body is simply  adjusting itself, clearing out the old, stagnant energy and making way for the new.

As always, we encourage you to get in touch after a session if you have any concerns whatsoever.

We do check in with you about three days after your session, as this allows for integration time, but, if you need to contact us beforehand, please do so.
